Emilio Pica

Painter of vivid landscapes, light-filled interiors, picturesque bouquets, still life scenes filled with fruits and personal objects, garden paths and poppy fields, Emilio is undoubtedly an artist who continuously describes a contemporary dialogue between abstraction and impressionism

Romanian born, Emilio (1935) started his career in art at a very early age. When only eight years old, he discovered a fascination for colour by helping his grandfather, mural painter Birt, and his team of iconographers on ecclesiastical murals. Since studying fine arts at both elementary and high school, Emilio graduated as an engineer, and by the age of thirty had participated in solo and group shows as a member of the Professional Artists Association. Presently, Emilio resides in Toronto, Canada and is  represented by Gevik Gallery, Yorkville Toronto. For the last fifteen years he has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Canada and United States showing his mixed media/acrylic paintings on canvas or silk. Since 1998 he has been featured in yearly solo exhibitions at Teodora Art Gallery in Toronto and at Art Expo in New York. His work is represented in across Canada, including Toronto, Alberta, Edmonton, Vancouver and Montreal. Emilio’s artwork is included in international collections in Germany, the U.S.A., Japan, Columbia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.
